Cottage food rules and what Bakeable does not do
Bakeable does not license your kitchen. What it does give you for the parts you can control.
You do not need a licence or a commercial kitchen to use Bakeable. Whether you need one to sell what you bake is a question for the place you live, and the answer varies by province, state, county and sometimes by what you are baking.
Bakeable is software, not a compliance service. We do not check, certify or advise on your local cottage food rules, and nothing here is legal advice. Check with your local authority before you sell.
What typically varies
- Whether home-baked goods can be sold at all, and to whom — direct only, or also wholesale.
- Which foods qualify. Shelf-stable baked goods usually do; anything needing refrigeration usually does not.
- Annual revenue caps.
- Required label wording — often something naming your kitchen as unlicensed, plus ingredients and allergens.
What Bakeable gives you for it
- Allergen fields on every product, shown on the storefront card and in full in the product detail.
- A policies page on your storefront for the disclosures your area requires.
- Order labels you control the content of, so required wording can go on every bag.
- A record of every order, which is what most revenue-cap rules ask you to be able to produce.
