Taxes, GST/HST and sales tax
What Bakeable calculates, what it does not, and what you will need at tax time.
Bakeable is built for bakers in Canada and the United States, and handles Canadian GST/HST, Canadian addresses and CAD on every plan.
Bakeable does not file anything for you and does not decide whether you should be registered or charging tax at all. Those are questions for your accountant and your revenue authority.
At tax time
Finances gives you sales over any period, the orders behind them, and a transaction ledger including refunds and fees. Export what your bookkeeper asks for from there.
Remember that three different numbers are involved and they are not the same: your sales, your card processor’s payouts to your bank, and Bakeable’s platform fee. Reconcile against your processor’s dashboard for what actually landed.
The platform fee
Bakeable’s platform fee is charged to the customer on top of your price, so it is not a deduction from your revenue. Your card processor’s fee is, and is usually a deductible business expense — but confirm that with your accountant rather than with us.
